CSB NMR FacilityVanderbilt-Only: | NMR Training Courses at Vanderbilt University:Basic (1D) NMR:Prerequisite: NONEThis class is will cover basic aspects of NMR theory and practice. Theory will cover basic concepts necessary to understand and operate an NMR spectrometer. Practical aspects will include acquiring, processing and plotting 1D NMR spectra. This course is intended for an entry level NMR user. Successful completion is a pre-requisite for running spectrometers in the NMR facilities. Suggested reading: Cladridge, Derome Classroom Session: 9:30 - noon (days 1 & 2) 1. Introduction 2. Basic Theory of an NMR experiment 3. Hardware - Spectrometer Overview 4. Sample Preparation 5. Basic Steps for acquiring a 1D spectrum 6. Basic Steps for processing a 1D spectrum 7. Selected NMR Experiments Laboratory Session: 1:30 - 5:00pm (days 1 & 2) 1. Acquire 1D proton spectrum 2. Optimize acquisition Parameters 3. Optimize processing Parameters 4. Plotting 5. Data storage / transfer Checkout, individual sessions: 30min (days 3-5) In order to be certified to run a spectrometer, each user is required to demonstrate his/her proficiency at acquiring and processing a basic proton NMR spectrum. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
