Hello all,

I received information from VUIT regarding the replacement of network switches in MRB3 and the Learned Lab on Dec 6 - 8. The 5th floor should only see an outage on Dec 6. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Bill Riner (bill.riner at vanderbilt.edu<mailto:bill.riner at vanderbilt.edu>) or Roy Hoffman (roy.hoffman at Vanderbilt.Edu<mailto:roy.hoffman at Vanderbilt.Edu>).

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

There will be brief network service interruptions in MRB III and Learned Lab in the early mornings of Tue-Thu Dec 6-8 while VUIT replaces all of the access-layer network switches that serve these spaces. Three or four specified floors (see table) will be upgraded in a planned change each day. The work and related service interruptions will happen between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM each day. Each wired network connection will have a service interruption of less than 30 seconds, as we move patch cables from old switches to new. Additionally, because the wireless access points are cabled to these switches as well, each wireless access point will go out of service for about 5 minutes. We expect that the vast majority of networked systems will tolerate the service interruption well and will return to service with no need for manual intervention. We (VUIT) are also prepared to work with you on exceptions.
