[Sandersgrp] [Chazingrp] Shut down computers tonight by 5pm!

It is not at all clear to me, despite the nature of the cataclysmic warning, that there is any reason to shut off your computers at 5 PM. Rather, it is (presumably) advisable to turn off any mail tools or other interaction with your email by 5 PM so that there are no changes in your email account while the move is being made.

I’m sure you received this email today. I just want to point out that you must shut down your computer by 5pm today for the email migration. I’ve also attached a mailer that was sent to staff members last week.

If you have issues when you turn your computer back on tomorrow, VUIT will have a help desk set up in the 3rd floor atrium next to Suzie’s from 8 am – 11 am. You may also call the Help Desk at 615-343-9999.

As a reminder, the migration for Arts & Sciences occurred a while ago. This is only for those of us who fall under the School of Medicine Basic Sciences.

Moving to Office 365 allows Vanderbilt to align with current technology, improve customer
experience, and take advantage of new features, functionalities and security protections.

• More Storage -100GB mailbox storage for each user
• New Outlook Web Access - new look, better browsing capability, archiving, etc.
• Better integration with other Office 365 products
• Pairs with smart devices, such as Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, and Google Home

• Enhanced Security protections – provides multiple layers of malicious detections that may result in a delay in receiving and emails.

Should you experience any issues accessing email using the Outlook desktop client or after reconfiguring your account on a mobile device, please note that email is always available online, using Outlook Web Access (OWA).
To access OWA, go to Outlook.com<http://outlook.com/> and log in using your primary email address.
