CSB Graphics Research Lab

The Center for Structural Biology graphics lab is located at 5136 BIOSCI/MRBIII. It is an open-access facility available to all Vanderbilt faculty/students/staff for the purposes of macromolecular visualization, modeling, and analysis. Expert training and assistance in these techniques is available via periodic workshops as well as our outreach mechanism.

Graphics Lab Usage Policy

This facility has priority use for outreach and training and therefore should not be used for daily research operations in the laboratories of CSB core faculty. CSB core faculty are expected to provide adequate computing resources within their groups for these tasks. However, CSB members are free to use the facility for occasional "overflow" work. This would include interactive work to take advantage of special features of these machines (such as dials boxes, stereo screens, and removable media) and occasional, overnight compute jobs (i.e. an extra calculation during off-hours to help meet a deadline).

Please use the signup sheet on the door to reserve time on these computers. Unfortunately, we are not always able to predict when staff and/or students will need these resources. In such instances, the facility managers reserve the right to log out or "kill" any jobs running on these systems to insure that the primary mission of the facility is met. These occurrences should be extremely rare, and every effort will be made to contact the impacted user(s) in advance of such an event.

The graphics lab should remain locked outside of normal business hours M-F 8AM - 5PM. If you need to get into the lab after hours please see this secure page at the CSB Twiki (requires CSB login/password for access).
